What Visitors Say

Family Party                                 Thank you so much for a wonderful winter stay – Your group accommodation was the perfect place for all our friends to come together. Thoughtfully designed and decorated with an ideal balance of family and twin / double rooms to accommodate everyone, and large communal spaces to eat and enjoy games together. Welcoming, comfortable and warm we didn’t want for anything. The games room and outside play spaces kept the children busy, and the well equipped kitchen kept all us adults super happy.
We will definitely be coming again. Best Wishes

What an absolute gem this place is- it is abundantly clear the sheer love and passion that Gyles and Alison have injected into this wonderful campsite, it felt like a home away from home. On arrival we were met by both Alison and Gyles who were extremely welcoming and keen to show us around and help us to familiarise ourselves.
Our children had the absolute times of their lives exploring, and there was something new to be discovered around every corner. They loved exploring the woods, finding the dens and playing in the stream, it was so nice to see them just being kids- caked in mud, soaking wet wellies and socks with rosy cheeks from laughing. We weren’t blessed with great summer weather, but donned wellies we did and explored all the same. When the rain was too heavy (we lost a welly and a sock in the mud bog!) we headed for the play barn area which was well equipped with toys, games and puzzles which kept our children occupied for hours, allowing us to sit and read a book in peace 🙂 the cakes available to buy in the barn were delicious.
There is so much space for the children to run around in, the tire swing was also a massive hit as was Gandalf and the hillfort.
The daily ringing of the morning feeding bell was greatly anticipated, and rain or shine our children were out with Gyles (and Hugo!) feeding the animals.
The tent pitches were spacious, and felt private but close enough to not feel excluded from your neighbours. The trees provided great shelter from the rain and the wind, and the area was very well maintained (there were quite a number of tiny thistle plants on the ground though so beware if you’re barefoot). Each pitch has a fire pit area and grates are freely available.
The shop was always well stocked (although you need to be early for the milk) and was reasonably priced.
The pizza night was fantastic, one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted- especially with the fresh home grown basil! The campfire songs after were very entertaining (and athletic!). We didn’t do the bush craft as our children didn’t want to, but it looked and sounded like lots of fun!
One thing we loved was that the tree’s have plaques on them telling you what they are and what can be made from them our children loved learning lots of really interesting facts.
Location wise, this campsite is in a perfect area- remote enough to feel like wild camping with lots of space but close enough to local towns and attractions to get out and about. Gyles was kind enough to lend us some crabbing buckets and nets and we spent a day in near by Abaraeron, crabbing, rock pool hunting and climbing the rocks- the parking is free too! Its also close to New Quay. They have a large map at the site with lots of things to do tacked onto it which was really helpful for visualising where things were, Gyles was incredibly helpful with recommending things to see and do in the local area also.
There are so many things to be written about this campsite, but truly they just don’t do it justice- it was simply amazing on many levels. Our children cried leaving this campsite because they didn’t want to come home, that speaks louder than anything written in a review.

Thank you Alison and Gyles for a wonderful first family camping trip experience, you blew our expectations right out of the water. We will definitely be returning and have already recommended you to many friends.

Melissa, Aug

We have loved our (far too short) stay. It was the perfect place for our 1st camping trip. We enjoyed the pizza night, feeding the animals, and the nature trail. Lots to do within a short drive too.

Family from Germany

Professional and relaxing eco camp site perfect for children and adults.

Communal areas are lovely as are all the facilities. Great pizza and little shop.

Thank you so much

Laura. August

Thanks for two amazing weeks on your campsite. You’ve created an awesome place, the children loved the hill fort, playing with the train in the barn, feeding the animals and making many new friends with the other children even though they cannot speak no English. The recommendations you suggested for the day visits were really helpful. You have created a great community feel.

Family from Holland

What a special place to stay!It is special because you feel so free. You can connect with others but also have loads of private space. We didn’t expect our Dutch speaking children to make so many British friends! We caught crabs at sunset, spotted dolphins, carved sticks, looked at the stars, cuddled around the campfire and relaxed with reflexology by Alison.Thank you for making an environment with such a positive vibe reflecting such a great quality of life.We will definitely be coming again. Best Wishes

From the Netherlands!

Everything exceeded our expectations. It looks even better than the website! All in all an amazing and beautiful place to spend precious time with family

Group accommodation - family gathering

May 2024 Simply beautiful Our stay was absolutely perfect. We know it was going to be a beautiful spot but we couldn't have imagined how brilliant it would be. The accommodation is beautiful. Comfortable beds and bedding and everything we could have needed and more was provided. It made everything effortless. The kids were spoilt for choice on site with what they could do and couldn't have been bored for a moment. It was exactly what we had hope for, lots of space, freedom and fun things to explore. We had a large group (23) so a number of queries popped up along the way and Gyles always came back with answers and was there to greet us. Could not recommend this enough. Nobody wanted to leave and we plan to revisit. Thank you for your hospitality

Thank you for an absolutely brilliant week. The campsite is a very special place.  We loved feeding the animals everyday and the play barn was extremely useful in the rain! Delicious breakfast and pizza. We’ve also been inspired to make a few changes to our house and garden. Campfire songs were also big hit.

The Schofields

We live in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty so to find a campsite worth visiting each year says how special this site in west Wales is.We feel relaxed after a week in a safari tent. Thanks you for making us feel so at home and we hope to be back again next year.

PS I would recommend the reflexology it was amazing!

Just a quick email to say thank you for a wonderful week at Naturesbase (August 19 to 26).

Staying at your farm was like being welcomed into a friendly community of optimistic people and this positivity rubbed-off on all of us over the week (as well as everyone else we met too). It’s even survived the transition back to work & school!

I’ll list a few stand-out events:

The cooked breakfasts! Legendary.

Sharon’s reflexology – she was in tears (in a good way).

The camp-fire sing-along – soooo un-PC but we were all in raptures of laughter.

The pizza – the best we’ve eaten.

The freedom and fun Ben enjoyed.

But perhaps most of all was how approachable you both were. I mentioned to Alison that in my experience with any great hotel/pub/café/restaurant, the owner always has a presence and it’s their hospitality that makes the interaction so good.

We would have loved Ben to have done the bushcraft morning but as the Tuesday promised to be the fine weather day of the week, the lure of Llangrannog proved too much! So maybe next time.

We swapped contact details with two other families and we’re already talking of a return!

All the best.

Liam, Sharon and Ben

So much more than just a campsite

We camped at Naturesbase with our 4 children (age 13, 11, 9 & 5) for the first week of the summer holidays. From the moment we arrived we knew this was a very special place. Flat, grassy pitches with plenty of privacy and a fire pit, great communal spaces to eat, play, read and meet people, spotless facilities – and that was before we explored the grounds. Acres of woodland, fields, a stream to paddle in, even a hill fort for the kids to rampage in. Our kids loved feeding the pigs & chickens in the mornings, and the songs around the campfire (after helping make pizza in the wood fired oven) were another big hit. With stunning beaches a short drive away, beautiful countryside all around and the warmest welcome from Gyles & Alison, we honestly couldn’t have asked for anything more. We will definitely be back – and can’t recommend this place highly enough (although part of me wants to keep it secret so booking doesn’t get too difficult!).

Ursula Adams

Another amazing holiday at Naturesbase. In 20 years of camping this is the only campsite we have visited twice. As soon as we arrived we immediately relaxed. The cakes are to die for.

Sue, Charlie, Dan and Amy

Really loved being here. Such a fabulous well thought out escape. The balance of community and privacy with feeding animals, games pizza night and weekly children’s sing song around the fire. The little touches in decor with slate signs and jars of flowers, butting and fairy lights are a joy. Copse lodge was a delight with the alfresco kitchen a wonderful place to spot kites, bats and beautiful butterflies. It makes a huge difference when the owners love what they do.We will definitely be coming again. Best Wishes

It's the little touches that matter

The Nulty Family and Friends

We’ve just enjoyed a fantastic week at one of the lodges at Naturesbase, which my husband described as probably the most relaxing family holiday we’ve ever had. By the end of the week, the adults were relaxed and full of wine (and I had read four books!), while the children were semi-feral, covered in insect bites, bramble scratches and grass seeds, and living mostly off dry cereal and marshmallows: in other words, they couldn’t be happier.

The lodges had everything we needed for a comfy stay, including an open air cooking and dining area, all the basics we could require including tea and real coffee, and a lovely open deck; and when the thunderstorms finally hit on the Friday night, it was rather pleasant to experience them from the depths of a feather duvet. The site is fabulous for kids and they mostly roamed free, making friends with the other campers, swinging on the tyre swing, worrying the sheep and fishing with nets in the river. Naturesbase puts on some activities including pizza night, campfire singing and a bushcraft morning which my 7 yo described as the highlight of his holiday; and every morning the children can go and help feed the animals and collect the eggs.

Off the farm, we crabbed, cycled, swam in the sea, spotted dolphins, and enjoyed some excellent meals out; there is loads to do in the local area and we could easily have stayed another week if it weren’t for the danger that the children would go full wolf.

We loved our time at Naturesbase and heartily recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing off-grid family holiday.

Absolutely loved our two night stay here – perfect pitches with space and privacy to enjoy camping as a family. Awesome facilities – spotless, lots of welcome surprises ( Hill fort, sandpit, pizza night!) and communal areas ( the old goat barn) a great addition for rainy days. We all feel refreshed and restored after our Naturesbase experience and will definitely be back next year.

Sarah, Carwyn, Maelo and Rowan

Thank you so much for an amazing camping holiday. The facilities, activities and relaxing atmosphere have meant we have not had to worry about a thing. Thank you Gyles for the bushcraft morning we all had lots of fun and Alison for the brownies, flapjacks and breakfast which are all yummy!

Kay, Richard, Emily & Isabelle, July

We have had a fantastic week! The lodge was just what we needed, loads of fresh air but protected from the Welsh weather. We really can’t fault the facilities and surroundings in any way. Pizza and the bushcraft were definitely highlights. We will be back and we will be recommend Naturesbase to family and friends.

Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Calvin, Katie, Zahara & Reben. July

Can’t speak more highly of this beautiful gem of a place. We travelled from Scotland specifically for this campsite and it has been above and beyond our expectations. All the little touches, thoughtful ideas and general feeling of enjoyment and happiness. thank you.

John, Kerri & Finn

We have had a fabulously relaxing week. We have been inclinded to camp on larger sites with all the facilities that we never used. Never again! Realised how nice it is staying here at such a small campsite with the most friendly owners. The kids have enjoyed their freedom and we have been happy knowing they are safe. The little touches put a smile to your face and made it feel so welcoming and homely. Being able to have campfires most nights toasting marshmallws has been the kids highlight. They have loved feeding the animals and the campfire songs.

Phil, Tanya and family

Thank you for a wonderful week in your beautiful lodge (Copse). We had an amazing time – we loved learning about bushcraft, feeding the animals, scrummy pizza and the campfire evening. Gyles and Alison you are the perfect hosts.

Andrew, Audery and children. August

Possibly the best campsite I have stayed in. Peace and quiet to get away from it all. The kids have loved staying here, they loved the animal feeding, and we all enjoyed the bushcraft sessions, pizza evening, cooked breakfasts and yummy cakes.

Having the indoor play area was great when you didn’t want to be out in the open air. We loved the facilities, was a great place to make friends (children and adults), we are going to miss being here! I am sure there will be a request for a fire pit in the back garden when we get home.

Doddy, Lauretta, Mathew and Erica. August

Thank you for such a lovely time at Naturesbase. We loved everything, the toy barn, the tyre swing, the campfires and the reflexology session was heaven. It is very special to have all those little touches flowers in the loos and on the tables, and those chocolate brownies are to die for.

Lamberts

We have all had the best time. Brilliant site, lovely people, lovely animals, lovely pets, scrumptious pizza, breakfasts, lamb burgers, evening entertainments around the campfire. Facilities fantastic. Atmosphere perfect. It has been a wonderful experience. Thank you
